Congratulatory Letter
SEE DISTRIBUTION
1. I wish to extend my congratulations to the officers and men of the 9th Infantry Division for their outstanding achievements during the Viet Gong Tet Campaign.
2. I was most impressed by the rapid reaction, initiative, drive, aggressiveness and professionalism demonstrated by all members of the division. This was true in both the support and the maneuver units. The 9th. Division Team succeeded in inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy and capturing a multitude of weapons all the way from the Long
Binh/Bien Hoa/Saigon area to the deepest part of the Mekong Delta. The vigorous
and successful execution of all assigned missions resulted in a substan tial victory over the enemy and established another fine record for the 1'Old
Reliables."

The actions of the combat and combat support units were truly outstanding. The violent ~~d aggressive manner in which the fight was carried to the
enemy was particularly laudible and succeeded in blunting the enemy offensive. The combat service support units' reaction time
was also truly remarkable. working around the clock treating wounded, shuttling supplies and ammunition, and maintaining weapons and
equip ment was a personification of our motto THE Old Reliables."
